What is a digipak?
A digipak is a form of packaging for CDs and DVDs. As opposed to the traditional jewel case packaging, digipaks are made from 300gsm card with matte or gloss varnish, which allows them to be shatterproof and show off the album artwork more than a clunky plastic case. In addition, there are not many restrictions on the size of a digipak as the number of panels can be easily increased from 4 to 6 or 8, which means that more information and artwork can be displayed on the packaging. This is more appealing to artists as it is more information to persuade the customer to buy their album.
